One main focus of the new Swipely site was to clean up and speed up everything. We helped them take a hard look at all the assets and tracking scripts being called. Then we built and even meaner and leaner HTML/CSS responsive structure.
Part of Swipely's new design included a complex grid system that needed to handle multiple types of content (images, text, video, etc...). This had to be fully responsive, but also maintain the same height aspect ratio to keep the grid blocked off. Needless to say it was a lot of work, but we eneded up with a modular system that we can plug and play content.
Because we had build the previous site on ExpressionEngine, Swipely wanted to continue to leverage it's power and flexibility. Thanks to EE's templating engine we were even able to roll out static versions of certain pages for an important announcment and then go back and hook it into EE later. This let us migrate key pages to the new design without having to blow everythign up and start all over.
Of course, responsive was a huge consideration for Swipely - so we made sure that the site was still fluid with the new design and that it performed even better on mobile devices.
