DesignersMusic Web Design
With DesignersMusic, Nate and I wanted to create a place where other designers could share what they're listening to.Two years later, we're still finding new music to design to.
Visit the Live SiteOne of the first images I had in my head was walking through a CD store and picking out an album based on the cover, so it made sense to lay the site out the same way. While initially we just wanted to recreate that experience, we soon realized that people wanted to take ownership of the music they were putting up so we created album detail pages and user profiles to deepen the experience. Oh, and a homepage is always good . Either way, we don't think it looks like any music site you've ever seen before.
Functionality wise, the stalwart ExpressionEngine saved the day again, creating a robust and solid system to manage content and users. Sure, we needed quite a few modules and extensions, but with things like User and Favorites from Solspace, you'd never know we were using a CMS.
All in all, this is the first real project we've put out into the wild and the response has been overwhelming. Not to mention we've found a ton of cool new music. And seeing as that was really the whole point anyway, it's all good.
