Cherokee Mills will be the first green business complex in Knoxville, and is embracing the long forgotten aspect of community in business. The building will house tenants like doctors, lawyers, and design firms and have areas to grab food and coffee. In short, you will get to know everyone who works there and create a family of friends. The building has quite a history, and in creating the logo we looked to a prominent architectural feature that was of great function back in it's heyday. The ridges on the top of the building would collect air flow from outside, funnel it down underneath the building where it could be cooled, and then blown up through the floor to help cool the plant workers in the hot summer months. They didn't have air conditioners back then! We took the features and simplified into a retro/modern icon and topped it of with a friendly but slightly industrial font (Union).
